I hate Medical Insurance Companies

March 12, 2008

I had to take my son to the emergency room last Friday night. He was congested, wheezing, holding his chest, crying, and just feeling pretty lousy. So, off we were to the hospital, with no other real alternative with the doctor’s office being closed until Monday.

A few hours, tests, and an x-ray later we were headed home with a prescription and inhaler. He still felt pretty bad but he was much better than when we got there.

Before we had even left for the emergency room I knew we were about to have another thousand dollar hospital bill that the insurance would not cover. Since the birth of my first child one thing has been a constant, doctor’s and hospital bills do not get paid by the insurance company. The only bill that actually got paid was when i was on state insurance for the birth of my youngest son.

Immunizations, they should be paid, right? Nope, they don’t cover preventive care. They also don’t cover diagnostic x-rays, such as a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia. Seems they also don’t cover blood work for a 4 year old boy who a doctor has just told you may have cancer. What parent is going to deny tests on a child that may possibly have cancer? And what is insurance for if they won’t even pay for tests for a child that may have cancer?

With three young boys, I’d be better off to get a minimum wage job, get state insurance, and let them foot the bill.

Gas, Gas, and more GAS

March 12, 2008

My gas bill last month was about $300. So, I pick up the phone to call the gas company and pay the gas bill. I am put on hold, of course. Then this nice little message somes on telling me that i may have noticed that my gas bill is a little higher than usual. I MAY have noticed?

If i push “3″ i can find out why the gas bills are higher than usual! Imagine that, If I just push the number 3 I can find out what i already know. In the winter people need heat. Because we NEED heat, they are going to charge me more for it. No big mystery here. Just another bloodsucking company using every method they can to rip the money from our hands.

My brain is about to explode

March 12, 2008

How many of these insane ads are there on the internet? I get more and more every single day in my inbox. They all say the same thing, “Give me your money and I’ll show you how to make money”.

I wonder how much money these guys actually make by doing this. How many people are willing to give their money away in hopes that they will find a way to actually make money off somebody else’s genious plan.

If these guys actually had the perfect method of making hundreds of thousands of dollars, why are they bothering with me? Why do they need me to pay this super low price of just $49.95 to get started? I suppose if there are enough people willing to pay, the money would add up pretty quickly. Preying on the desperate just doesn’t seem all that appealing.
